Mike’s interest in food stems from his diverse ethnic background. A true American, his Heinz 57 genetic makeup includes German, Irish, English, Scottish, French, and Lebanese (by way of Oklahoma). He especially likes cooking cuisines from the Middle East, Asia, and the deep South(barbecue baby!).

Mike believes that Americans should, as much as possible, eat foods and drink wines that are produced/grown within 100 miles of where they live. This also means eating foods that are in season rather than consuming produce and meats that are shipped from thousands of miles away. When it’s not available locally, Mike encourages people to grow their own. All of this is a more sustainable model for the planet and for an individual’s health.
