This is a traditional South Indian pickle, to be served with yogurt rice. Yogurt rice is just that: yogurt, and rice. The pickle is very salty, tangy, spicy, is rounded out by the umami of the tomato. A nice way to use green tomatoes en masse.
Applesauce made with roasted apples, and seasoned with Chinese five-spice powder: the easiest applesauce ever made. The roasting causes the apples to caramelize deliciously.
Taqueria-inspired carrot and jalapeno pickles gussied up with rainbow carrots. The jalapenos are from my garden -- and still going strong. (It's been a very warm fall.)
