Three Things Thursday: October 11, 2012

Once again it's Three Things Thursday, where I highlight three things that ran on the site recently that inspired, intrigued or impressed me. Here's this week's picks:

Wild Kousa Dogwood Jelly
Wild Kousa Dogwood Jelly
I must confess I've never even heard of this fruit, which Amy Wexler aptly describes as "a large, bumpy, red fruit that looks like a strawberry on steroids with cherry stems." And it makes a delicious jelly. Who knew?
KY Jelly Is My New Jam
KY Jelly Is My New Jam
This delightful essay by my friend Michael Procopio is sure to make you chuckle, if not guffaw. But it's more than just an amusing read; he includes a recipe for his own recipe for what he would fancy a Kentucky Jelly.
The October Unprocessed challenge is afoot over at Eating Rules, and there's an impressive amount of useful and interesting DIY food being served up. Check out the posts so far (including posts from last year's challenge), and stay tuned for more, including one from yours truly, throughout the month.
