Three Things Thursday: August 2, 2012

Once again it's Three Things Thursday, where I highlight three things that ran on the site in the last week that inspired, intrigued or impressed me. I often say I learn something new every day moderating content on Punk Domestics, and this past week has been rich with learnings. Here's this week's picks:

Balsamic-Cherry Vermouth
Balsamic-Cherry Vermouth
Courtesy of my friend Michael Cecconi of Two Sisters Bar and Books, a recipe for homemade balsamic-cherry vermouth, plus a cocktail recipe that uses it. Part of Food in Jars' Drink Week.
Homemade Vegetable Boullion

Don't dispose of those carrot tops and herb trimmings. Make vegetable bouillion by layering them with kosher salt in a large glass crock (or quart/half gallon mason jar).
Kombucha and Cultured Candy
Kombucha and Cultured Candy
Got too much mother from making kombucha? Here's an unexpected use for it: Make a cultured candy!
