A small batch of autumnal chutney sweetened with just dates and dried currants.
With no refined sugar or corn syrup, this thick, rich, nicely spiced date sweetened tomato ketchup tastes even better than the stuff from the bottle. It's also very easy and quick to make, in about 30 minutes, using whole peeled canned tomatoes.
This is my version of the classic combination of apples, dates and walnuts in a lipsmacking chutney. Delicious with a strong cheddar cheese or straight from the jar!
I posted this awhile ago, but it's been a constant in my fridge ever since. It's a really good condiment to put on your lists for this Summer's preserving!
Another soon-to-be-favorite, date chutney is sweet and just a little spicy. And, it's going to be good on everything.
