Some say the clementine was developed in Algeria by Father Clement Rodier,a French missionary,in Algeria. Cardamom plays an important role in Algerian sweets; paired with star anise in gingery honey syrup, this recipe produces an irresistible aroma.
We have a beet pickled egg with cardamom and star anise, as well as a curried pickled egg with Indian spices, a jalapeno pickled egg with cumin and oregano, and a tarragon pickled egg with mustard seeds. My favorite is the beet pickled egg.
Spiced Peach Jam is infused with star anise, cinnamon stick and cloves. Delicious and the spices in the jars make this a very showy gift. Holiday gift-appropriate and also good year 'round. Was a favorite at our B&B in East Hampton.
